Frequently asked transport questions

Our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section aims to provide answers to common questions our customers may have about our product or service. We understand the importance of delivering a great customer experience, so we have compiled a list of questions and answers that address key concerns and queries.
Discussing a quote or giving details of your delivery requirements can given by phone or email. We are always ready to discuss any aspect of a job so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Furnells primarily deliver in the UK, including Northern Ireland and the islands. The number of deliveries we make abroad have become less frequent since Brexit but we are happy to assist with information required to manage the paperwork for this.
The fleet incorporates artic tractor units with sideloader / box / curtain sided trailers, through to 18t, 16t, 7.5t, 3.5t Luton box and a Peugeot Expert small van for smaller consignments. We also hire from our trusted partners when additional vehicles are needed.
We are currently in the process of moving to a new transport management system which will make tracking of the delivery process easier and in real time. At present our office team are always contactable and inform customers of any changes to a delivery ETA by phone or by email.
Upon delivery of your consignment, our drivers currently obtain a physical signature wherever possible. This will be included with your invoice (or sent separately via email if urgently required). Digital signatures will be available more instantly when our new transport management system is up and running.
We often work alongside a pallet network for any pallet deliveries. We can group deliveries in an area efficiently to reduce costs or add them to a national service on your behalf. For dedicated, assured handling our fleet and experienced drivers can be specified on your order.

Warehouse and Storage

We can assist with moving product in and out of your storage location and have a range of equipment to help do this safely.
Access to the warehouses is during working hours from Mon to Friday, 7.30am – 4.30pm. Special access arrangements can be made outside these times by special agreement.
We have lockable, secure self store units protected by the latest 24/7 digitally recorded CCTV and fully covered by both intruder and smoke alarm systems which are Red CARE Linked.
We have worked with many companies to create bespoke display, demonstration and equipment test areas (with power), available on request.
We are very happy and able to deliver onwards any specified stock held in storage. Please enquire as to availability.

The Lorry Park

All parking is on a long-term contract to limited companies only.
We accommodate cars, vans, 7.5t, 18t & articulated vehicles.
The site is normally manned between 6am and 4:30pm and the Lorry Park Manager is on call for any out of hour issues.
The site is covered by 20 x 4k CCTV cameras and the perimeter is secured by high fencing and walls. The entrance is protected by an exterior automatic barrier & gates managed by an ANPR entry system.
The site is equipped with a toilet and a kitchenette (with microwave, kettle & fridge).
Single night parking cannot be accommodated as all spaces are in use.
