Carriage of Dangerous Goods since 1988
The Trusted Choice

Furnells has been moving various Radioactive Materials since 1988. Our drivers qualified to carry out the movement of Class 7 (Radioactive Materials), as well as the main classes of Dangerous Goods by Road (2,3,4,5,6,8 and 9).

To this end Furnells have been audited by ONR (Office of Nuclear Regulation), RAMTUC (Radioactive Material Transport Users Committee) and LLWR (Low Level Waste Repository) and are now working under their “Framework Agreement”.

Specialist vehicles include side-loader trailers, XL rated curtain-sided trailers (with multi-lock 2 tonne rated strapping points every 100mm along each side of the trailer), low loader trailers and skeletal trailers with multi-twist-lock capacity.

For enquiries regarding the movement of Radio Active Materials, please contact Zachary Thole our accredited DGSA (Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor).

Furnells primarily deliver in the UK, including Northern Ireland and the islands. The number of deliveries we make abroad have become less frequent since Brexit but we are happy to assist with information required to manage the paperwork for this.
The fleet incorporates artic tractor units with sideloader / box / curtain sided trailers, through to 18t, 16t, 7.5t, 3.5t Luton box and a Peugeot Expert small van for smaller consignments. We also hire from our trusted partners when additional vehicles are needed.
We are currently in the process of moving to a new transport management system which will make tracking of the delivery process easier and in real time. At present our office team are always contactable and inform customers of any changes to a delivery ETA by phone or by email.
Upon delivery of your consignment, our drivers currently obtain a physical signature wherever possible. This will be included with your invoice (or sent separately via email if urgently required).
