About us

We are an experienced transport company established in 1967, specialising in the transport, movement and positioning of high value, outsized equipment and machinery.

We transport deliveries across the UK and Europe within every industry sector including aerospace, medical, computing, telecommunications, printing, dangerous goods and nuclear.

We create tailored transport solutions to suit our customers’ requirements, working in partnership to anticipate, plan and deal with the difficult so you don’t have to. Site surveys are also offered as and when requested.

Our fleet includes various types of trailers including Box tail-lift, XL rated curtain-sided, flat beds and skeletals, as well as specialist Side Loader Megalift and Hammar trailers.

All of our rigid vehicles (from 3.5te – 18te GVW) have large tail-lift platforms (up to 2.60metres deep) and range from 500kg through to 3000kg safe working loads (SWL).

This enables us to respond and adapt to any job making us a “go to” choice for every industry sector including aerospace, medical, computing, telecommunications, printing, dangerous goods and nuclear.

Dangerous Goods and Radioactive Materials

We have been specialists in the carriage of dangerous goods, hazardous waste, and radioactive materials consignments since 1988.

Highly regulated and inspected by the Office for Nuclear Regulation, we have worked with, alongside and in partnership with many companies including EDF, Magnox, Cavendish Nuclear, UKAEA, Veolia, Augean, Tradebe, Tradebe Inutec and GE Healthcare as well as Nuclear Waste Services (formerly LLWR) under their Framework Agreement.

Discussing a quote or giving details of your delivery requirements can given by phone or email. We are always ready to discuss any aspect of a job so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Furnells primarily deliver in the UK, including Northern Ireland and the islands. The number of deliveries we make abroad have become less frequent since Brexit but we are happy to assist with information required to manage the paperwork for this.
The fleet incorporates artic tractor units with sideloader / box / curtain sided trailers, through to 18t, 16t, 7.5t, 3.5t Luton box and a Peugeot Expert small van for smaller consignments. We also hire from our trusted partners when additional vehicles are needed.
We are currently in the process of moving to a new transport management system which will make tracking of the delivery process easier and in real time. At present our office team are always contactable and inform customers of any changes to a delivery ETA by phone or by email.
Upon delivery of your consignment, our drivers currently obtain a physical signature wherever possible. This will be included with your invoice (or sent separately via email if urgently required). Digital signatures will be available more instantly when our new transport management system is up and running.
We often work alongside a pallet network for any pallet deliveries. We can group deliveries in an area efficiently to reduce costs or add them to a national service on your behalf. For dedicated, assured handling our fleet and experienced drivers can be specified on your order.
